This place is very affordable, the rooms are small but they are clean and safe. I stayed here a week for a conference. It is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get to places of interest. The trams on Market street are just two blocks away and they will get you most places with ease. The shared bathrooms didn't really present a problem. I felt safe while in the hotel. That being said, the surrounding area of the hotel has one of the highest homeless populations I saw while I was there. There were easily 30+ homeless people outside at any given hour of the day or night. From the lobby I saw a homeless lady pee on the street. Stay here long enough and you may get to see people doing heroin in the streets, get an offer or two from ladies of the night, and step over your fair share of human vomit, urine, and feces on the streets. That said, I was surprised by how little I was bugged by the homeless people (nobody asked me for money). Overall, I really liked the hotel and you couldn't beat the price! I recommend you save some money by staying here so that you can spend more on the food and touristy stuff in the area!
