This place has been a neighborhood landmark for decades, but underwent a change of ownership and major redesign a couple of years ago. I have to say I preferred the old version; the restaurant now feels like it's trying too hard to be trendy and chic, at the cost of being comfortable and casual. It also has very confusing hours of operation; I've tried to eat in the restaurant (as opposed to the counter-service cafe) several times at seemingly reasonable meal hours, only to find it closed.
All that being said, the food is delicious, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the location can't be beat. The large patio is perfect for a Sunday brunch in the soft sea breeze. I'm especially fond of their avocado toast, but everything I've ever tried had been at least good, and usually outstanding.
