This hotel is in a great location. In the heart of downtown San Diego you have bars and restaurants all around to choose from. The parking is expensive but you dont have to park there. I found a lot down the street(about a 5 min walk) for $15 for the night. Fyi, you won't find free street parking at all. As for the hotel. It is nice and clean. The rooms are spacious and include a full kitchen area. Pool, Gym, and breakfast all included in stay. Laundry services are available for pay. I had a little trouble getting extra amenities up to my room and the breakfast was not as extensive as some other Residence Inns I've stayed at previously. The little hassle is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.
Shout out to MICHELLE! A beautiful and trendy property with very CLEAN modern and spacious rooms that have exciting views all around the city; from the restaurants, to the bars, the street events, Petco Park and of course the beach! Love the heated pool and fitness center with a city view. Delicious complimentary breakfast with variety and a friendly breakfast staff, all which were helpful and knowledgeable. I did not catch their names but whoever was on the schedule serving breakfast on February 23rd, you guys are so amazing to be so nice and welcoming at 6AM and we all know you are there preparing for us guest well before it starts, so thank you for your friendly service. The valet men always greeted us with a smile and a “Good whatever time of day it was.” The front desk staff were also very friendly and approachable. One In particular who really deserves mention! Michelle was who checked me in, she was in the middle of assisting a guest on the phone and once done quickly proceeded to assist me, she greeted me with a smile and was easy to converse with (everyone is nice if they are paid to be nice but it is different when people take extra time to care about making your stay the best!) In my quick check in Michelle got to know the reason for my stay (I got my parents a room downtown for a special occasion) and she made sure to make their stay amazing, she was very knowledgeable about the local accommodations and helped me find some places to eat for my family. Upon returning to the hotel she greeted me by last name without having to see my ID again! That is a front desk agent that cares about her guests, not everyone remembers names after one check it. So it blew my mind when I looked at her name tag and saw “trainee” on it, this girl has only been there for 2 months and she provided my family with the best service out of all the staff there! Shout out to you girl! Your level care and service to your guests does not go unnoticed! I am sure that “trainee” label will be gone in no time! Thank you Residence Inn Gaslamp staff, and thank you Michelle for helping make my parents’ stay in Downtown San Diego one to remember!
The rooms were clean, well maintained and functional. The kitchen was spotless, as was the bathroom. Utensils and cook ware were available in room, as well,as the option of ROOM service. The room was beautifully decorated in simple decor. The bed was form, but not too firm. Loved the energy efficient lighting. The hotel itself was charming, friendly and courteous staff. The lobby has a nice fireplace and ample room to sit and converse, other areas for charging electronics.
