Days Inn & Suites Arcata

We stopped on our way to Prairie Creek, and had a thoroughly unpleasant experience. At first things were fine. The room was clean, and the girl at the front desk was nice. However, overnight ants got into our infant’s food, and all over our toothbrushes and toothpaste. When we informed the gentleman at the desk that our room was infested with ants, he let us know that was “normal” and to be expected when it rains. My infant was unable to eat. I had to replace $40 worth of formula in addition to toothpaste and toothbrushes for myself, husband, and older child. All said and done, we spent $60 to fix the mess caused by the ants in the room. To compensate, we were given 20% off the cost of the room which didn’t even cover the cost of the formula. We didn’t go camping because we wouldn’t have been able to keep our baby’s food sanitary. Turns out, staying at this motel is about equivalent. If you don’t want ants in your food and/or toiletries, I would HIGHLY recommend finding a different place to stay. Eureka for example or literally anywhere else.
